BENEFIT SINGING TO FUND SHERIFF’S OFFICE C.H.A.M.P.S. PROGRAM

On August 27th, 2016 at 7pm, the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office C.HA.M.P.S. Program will host an old fashioned Red Back Hymnal benefit singing.  The benefit, sponsored by Shorter Avenue Baptist Church, will benefit C.H.A.M.P.S.

C.H.A.M.P.S. is a prevention-based program for 7th grade students which has been offered in Floyd County since 2005.  A partnership between four county schools, Darlington School, Georgia School for the Deaf and Unity Christian School, the C.H.A.M.P.S. curriculum educates youth about topics such as bullying, choices and consequences, internet safety, gangs, peer pressure, methamphetamine, alcohol and tobacco.

“There will be no ‘special’ groups coming in,” said Deputy Anna Banks C.H.A.M.P.S. Instructor, “but rather several different families and some church choirs. Some of the groups will come from as far away as Loganville, Georgia.”

The singing which will be held at Shorter Avenue Baptist Church located at 1410 Shorter Avenue in Rome is free and open to the public.   A love offering will be accepted at the benefit.  All proceeds will go to provide the C.H.A.M.P.S. Program with much needed materials and supplies for the 2016-2017 school year.  For more information contact Deputy Banks at 706-291-4111 ext. 8871.
