The Floyd County Jail is the largest building owned by the Floyd County Government. It is 256,000 square feet and contains 828 beds. The jail serves Floyd County, The City of Rome, and Cave Spring housing pre-trial detainees as well as county-sentenced and state-sentenced inmates. In 2014 the jail had an average daily inmate population of 716. The current jail was built in 1982 and was renovated in 1996 as a result of a special purpose local option sales tax (SPLOST). The jail facility continues to utilize SPLOST funds to improve infrastructure issues through the Jail Infrastructure Restoration Project (JIRP).
The jail commander is Major Robert G. (Bob) Sapp. He is assisted by Lieutenant Nancy Canada.

How do I use the jail’s phone system?
The automated information system is an easy way to access inmate information quickly. To access automated information call (706)291-4111. Patiently wait for the voice prompts on each menu.
Commonly Used Options
Option 1 will take you to the Inmate Information menu. Using the inmate’s name or date of birth you can get a list of charges, bond amounts, visitation schedule, inmate number and inmate location.
Option 2 is General Information. This menu will describe for you jail policies about visitation, money, mail, medication and property releases.
Option 5 gives you inmate commissary services and Option 8 takes you to a directory of extensions including warrants, jail administration, on-duty supervisor, etc.
How do I schedule a video visit?
To schedule a video visit with an inmate you must first pre-register on-line through www.jailvisitnow.com. Pre-registration can be done in the comforts of your home or here in the visitation lobby at the visitor kiosk. The lobby is open Monday through Sunday from 8:00am to 5:00pm.
Once you have pre-registered, you can now schedule a visit by using your email address and password on-line at jailvisitnot.com or contact the visitation desk at (706)314-6211 to schedule a video visit at the jail.
You can visit remotely on your home computer for a small fee, or in person at the jail. Visits at the jail are available from 8:25am -11:45am and from 1:25pm-4:20pm Monday through Sunday. Inmates may have 2 visits at the jail weekly and 7 remote visits weekly; visits are 20 minutes long.
